So I've been writing a bit of the final chapter in my main storyline of S and Rockwell, and I've hit a snag. I don't think I can do it justice anymore. Finding Father started out with me trying to grasp the world that a Seeker lived in while trying to answer some questions that I found myself asking. The idea of "Them" transformed into A.G. Industries. I tried to take a series that was all about the enviroment, and tried to make it more about the characters. What makes someone risk everything by following instructions they have written on a piece of paper. I tried to avoid answering the big questions at the end of it, and even left the fate of the main character (not to mention S's gender) up to the reader. Kinda like choose your own adventure, but without the choice.
Then I wrote Keeping Us Better, a step into more character development. In that series, I tried to pull back from S, and began to explore many new characters, maybe less relatable, but ones that the reader could connect with and possibly begin to care about. Though the series lost some of the mystery that I loved, and what attracted me to The Holders in the first place. However I did end up creating and expanding on characters I found really interesting, and I found many people agreed.
Then came the first two chapters of Bringing Them Together, and the problem. Doing a chapter on both Mark Tene and Bridget Deviller, I realized I had so much more to say about these characters. I realized the final part would have far more chapters. Then I realized I wanted more of S. The series revolves around that character, and since I cannot go back and change the first two stories I'd have to have it here. That would end up with a very long final part. Something I didn't want. And it would be much harder than before to perseve the tone and mood of the original series and of the Holders Series in general. So what was Arca to do?
Novelize it. Yes, you heard it right. Using the ones you can read off of the website, I'm re-writing the entire story, and telling it overlappingly. This book will deal with a lot more than a narritive, it will tell a story while drawing the reader into the world of the Holders. The book will have: - Narrative of the characters -S's Journal/Book of Legion -Excerpts from Holder Stories -Pages from A.G.'s library -Samples of The Seeker's world (from letters, news reports, emails etc.) -More detailed; "The Group", something that was only mentioned breifly in KuB will play a much larger part. - and more
I have decided that is the best way I can do all of this Justice, and write a story worthy for The Holders, and something special for anyone who's read my work. Will I publish it? Perhaps. It will be my own work, so there will be less red tape than publishing the series, but it could also attract attention to the series and this website in general. Or there is the possibility that I will leave it to be passed around people who like the series. The same way we found out about the series ourselves.
So I'd love to hear anything about this. Opinions, comments, ideas, thoughts etc. I value all of your opions are am ready to hear all of them.
