But... if you want to read this very topic I mentioned, I guess, you won't be able to find anything. It was here, on the forum, and not so long ago all the posts were deleted.
Or you meant something else?

I meant I have to go read more of the series. I'm up to the Holder of Temptation. :)

Ah. Silly me.
Temptation is kinda good, but as for... that kind of trials I mostly like Devotion and Chastity. Especially Devotion - a perfect example of how a Seeker ruins their own previous life on their own free will.

When I read these, I go back to old fairy tales of a heroes trial to obtain a mysterious artifact for a strange wizard. The thing that I keep coming back to is that either these are real, or whoever wrote these had an intimate knowledge of the occult. reading these from that very occult stand point I see reflections of things that are tied into powerful magic practices. For exampe: The Holder of Karma. If he wears a black robe you die, a white robe... You live. This reflects clearly the embodiment of Yin and Yang. Or The Holder of Paradox in which one finds that he/she is both The Holder and Not The Holder of Paradox which in and of itself is... a paradox.

The main poijt there isn't magic, I guess. Many of these Objects posess only one "power" - the one that makes them an Object. Seekers have to give everything they have for nothing most of the times. Yes, it is unfair, but that's why I like these tales. That's a way which'll give you nothing, but corruption, despair and even take your humanity forever. And that's why I really like Devotion and Isolation's trials. I guess they both display this perfectly.

Because of a spambot attack.
