If you are reading this, it's over now.

I don't expect you to believe me. After all, this has been your life for years. For decades. For centuries. You are tired, and you are wary. But all things, good and bad, must come to an end. Even this. Even us.

You were one small, moving part in a chaotic machine, working against another machine, working against another machine. But we won, you see. No one ever thought it would end that way, did they? Not really. No one ever guessed that we'd get to go home at the end of the day, to return to the land of the living, to repent. No one ever thought, truly, that we'd keep them apart. But we did. Because we are Human, because we are the tallest of the tall, because we crush and brutalize our own, but also all those who would unmake us. Because we eat ourselves, we eat our loved ones, we eat our Lord, we eat pain and fear and rage and dread, and anyone who would have claimed to staunch our appetite was a fool in the end, because we ate them, too. The moment the first of the Objects came into our hot hands, It was doomed.

In any city, in any country, collect the documentation you've put down over the years, and burn it. Burn the Objects you've been given, too, because they're simply objects, now. Burn the images. Burn the scraps of cloth and paper drenched in blood. Burn the unhealing wound on your wrist. Burn everything. It's best if no one who does not have to remembers. Go to the halfway house, the mental institution, the school, the garden. See how the gates have closed, and whisper a word of thanks. Write a letter of gratitude to someone you have not spoken to in years. Say a prayer for a grey man in a grey suit. Say it again, if you feel merciful. Buy a dozen red roses and give them to a woman on the street.

Repeat these words, and keep repeating: You will not take us. You can not take us. Even when it was darkest, we tilted our heads toward the stars, and we knew Hope. And we were Hope. And Hope cannot be killed.

If you are reading this, you saved us. But you also saved yourself.

Goodnight, Seeker.
