Inerio had an idea to fashion a set of playing cards out characters from the Holders series, and we got to talking, that a Tarot card version would be even better for the series. Now there are 22 cards, so we may or may not be able to fill them, so feel free to post a character and where they should belong. There is no first come first serve, if two characters are competing for a card, Me and Inerio will decide on which has the better explanation.

Without further ado, here is the list of cards, and I will edit in character names as they go on. If your character is accepted make sure to message Inerio a full description of the character so she can draw it.

(For more info on the cards go to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Major_Arcana)

Actually the list will go on the next post because the posts get buggy after a certain lenght of text has been put int (atleast for me.)

I'm thinking of putting Harley and Sylvia in as the lovers. I'd explain but then I'd have to go into detail and blah blah blah.
Anyway, Sylvia would be the redeeming qualities of the card and Harley would represent its negative aspects.
Lafayette would probably be the Hierophant. I'm just posting so that in the event that anyone has any objections they can intervene.

I'm thinking S would fit into the Fool the best.

Rockwell works great into the Magician. Those are the two main characters I can contribute to. But if needed Derrick Todd fits right into the Moon, and I'm sure we can place The Holder of the End in there if needed.

I put up Inerio and my characters, and will take them down if needed.

Praetorious could be Justice. Or Death. Or the Hanged Man. Or the Hermit. Or something.

Edo could be the Devil.

Muramasa could be Strength, or the Chariot.

I think Edo is closer to Death or the Tower than the Devil. He only did a tensey bit of corrupting. Jack, in my opinion, would be the Devil. He's the one what talks you into evil.

Filth should be the Hanged man, as he's a traitor.

I think the Tower should be The Tower, or lacking that, this should be Infectos ("Downfall-Ruin-Ego Blow-explosive transformation")

I think Prae is a good justice. Balance should be judgement.

The End should be the hermit.

Legion should be the World.

I agree, Jack would be a better Devil.

Chael - Hanged man or Death for how he seems to upset things in a strange way, or Temperance for his measured sense of control.

Jaque - Wheel of Fortune. He has an incredibly aura comprising of both luck and change The Hanged Man might also fit him, as he is adept at defying everyone's expectations

(Lightning-struck) Tower goes good with someone who's a traitor, as it is something you placed your trust in that fails you. I would put it with Essum or Infectos, as the Tower is arguably the worst card in the deck. Death goes more with someone who causes lots of change around him.

I leave other people to judge my suggestions for my characters, for now I'll turn to see what everyone else should be, based on the cards' implied meaning:

Jack - Devil.
Edo Edi Essum - Tower. He brings everything crashing to the ground wherever he goes, an overwhelming symbol of negativity.
Edo Infectos - Death. He is one of the characters that changed the most, from Praetorius, to a demonic figure, and back again.
Praetorius - Don't really know as much about him as I should, but based on his values, he could range from Justice to Judgement
Balance - Strength or Emperor, based on his willpower and noticeable control over situations. His attempt to balance things isn't always successful, which is why I wouldn't put him as Justice
Filth - Honestly not sure, if anything I would put him as the High Priestess. Despite it being a feminine card, it speaks to his reliance on instinct and secrets. There really is no card for a yellow-bellied coward.
Legion - Hermit. As the guardian of the 2000, he is arguably the most cautious Holder, and has the most to protect.
The End - World. He's shown the most sense of everything coming around in a circle, even more so that he's the oldest and most influential Holder, as well as S's father, bring the cycle started by the Fool to a close.

Jack couldn't be the Devil.
The devil stands for deceit and lies. Last I checked Jack doesn't lie. Mr. Filth would probably fill that spot better. But, that would leave us with the question of where to put Jack.

Similarly, the Hanged man stands for peace and letting go. The symbolic meaning of the card is actually a whole lot less gruesome than what the name and picture entail. In most depictions the Hanged Man looks quite peaceful.

Here's my counter arguement for Jack as the devil:

It's about material goods over sprituality which Jack's about (city versus nature mostly but it's the same principle)

The Devil can represent the in ability to change and being "bound" to do something. Jack doesn't change, really, he's always been a bad man who corrupts everything around him. He doesn't grow and effectivly has bound himself to be incapable of lies or falsity.

"Should the Devil represent a person, it will most likely be one of money and power, one who is persuasive, aggressive, and controlling"

If the Major Arcana is analogized to the Sun’s circle across the sky, The Devil governs the Sun at midnight, when it is most vulnerable to the Old Night. The ancient Egyptians tell of the demon Apophis, Chaos, who would sometimes lay in wait for Ra as he piloted the boat of the Sun down the Nile to be born again in the morning. Sometimes, Apophis would swallow the sun. Mercifully, the reversals of the night brought Set to an unlikely rescue; he ripped Apophis open and let the Sun escape. Set, The Devil, is the adversary but sometimes, he is our best and only ally.

I similar to his aiding of Balance.

Yep I like Jack as the devil.
